The takeaway cups, bowls, meal boxes, trays and other packaging materials distributed by Ecotrend offer our business partners an eco-friendly solution. Our biodegradable plant fiber-based packaging materials with high functionality are an excellent replacement for disposable plastic products and are free from plastic coating and flourinated (PFAS) oil repellent substances.      https://www.ecoinno.com.hk/

Our 100% biodegradable products are completely compostable, and can be further used in the households or bio plants thus becoming part of the natural recycling cycle.

Nowadays the lack of microplastic-free packaging materials are a serious problem. The alternatives in the market use mainly silicon-based coatings or mixtures - PLA, PFAS - to reach an appropriate oil and water resistance.

The packaging materials which seem eco-friendly at first sight and made of paper often also contain non-biodegradable plastics. Microplastics can occur not only in the cells of the most living organisms, but even in rainwater. Their use is not only legally restricted but they can also cause chronic diseases. The ecoinno® products distributed by Ecotrend are free from any harmful substances.

Wide range of possible uses - from the freezer to the oven

The disposable biodegradable paper cups, boxes and other packaging materials of the ecoinno® product family distributed by Ecotrend have obtained their current, extraordinary features after nearly a decade of research. Due to their resistant structure they can be used in the oven, microwave oven and in the freezer as well.

Our GCM® (Green Compost Material) products are resistant not only to water and oil, but also to acids.
They can be used in a wide temperature range between  -196°C and +220°C. The food prepared in our products can be cooled in the blast chiller and stored in the freezer to facilitate the preservative free storage.
Whether it is about baking, freezing or heating the GCM-products of our ecoinno® product family can have a wider use than the other paper and plastic products on the market.

Our Normal Plus products (eg.: cups, lids) can be used in a wide temperature range between -50°C and +100°C.

It is excellently resistant to water and acids, but its oil resistance is far below that of our GCM products. Whether for packing or serving ice cream, juice, water, refreshing cocktail, coffee or hot soup our Normal Plus products offer a great solution.

The New York Times: Microplastics Are Everywhere. Here’s How to Avoid Eating Them. 2025-05-06

Microplastics and nanoplastics are everywhere. The teeny tiny pieces of plastic have been found in everything from drinking water to chicken nuggets, apples, and broccoli.
Recent studies have linked these pollutants to heart disease, lung disorders, and more worrying health issues.

Naure: The distribution of subsurface microplastics in the ocean 2025-04-30

Marine plastic pollution is a global issue, with microplastics (1 µm–5 mm) dominating the measured plastic count1,2. Although microplastics can be found throughout the oceanic water column3,4, most studies collect microplastics from surface waters (less than about 50-cm depth) using net tows5. Consequently, our understanding of the microplastics distribution across ocean depths is more limited.

Latest Updates on Per- and Polyfluorinated Substances (PFAS) in Europe 2025-02-05

EU PFAS Generic Restriction – Recently leaked documents from the Corporate Europe Observatory (CEO) reveal that industry representatives are relying on legal opinions to push back against the planned regulations. A key argument is that the EU’s proposed restriction unfairly groups over 10,000 PFAS compounds together, assuming they all share the same level of risk. This broad categorization would lack a sufficient scientific basis and could make regulatory compliance unnecessarily difficult for businesses.

EU Regulation Limits PFAS in Food Packaging, Bans Single-Use Plastic Packaging for Produce 2025-02-05

New EU plastic packaging and waste regulations have been published, which limit per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in food packaging, ban single-use plastics for fruit and vegetables under a certain weight, and set forth other changes. Regulation (EU) 2025/40, also known as the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), has transition periods for different requirements beginning as early as August 12, 2026.

Microplastics: Are we facing a new health crisis – and what can be done about it? 2025-01-09

  • Microplastics have been found in the land, sea and air, across the food chain and throughout the human body.
  • It's still unclear what the environmental and health impacts of microplastics could be, but a recent study points to the possibility that they can increase the likelihood of heart attack, stroke, or death.

Forever chemicals: What are they and could they be totally banned in the EU? 2025-01-09

Since PFAS were found in the south of Lyon, Pierre-Bénite has become a European symbol in the fight against forever chemical pollution. But what are these substances exactly, and why are they causing concern across Europe?

ECHA: Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) 2024-11-10

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large class of thousands of synthetic chemicals that are used throughout society. However, they are increasingly detected as environmental pollutants and some are linked to negative effects on human health.

Newsweek: Stop Drinking Bottled Water, Experts Warn of Health and Climate Impacts 2024-10-02

A widespread reliance on bottled water is posing significant threats to both human health and the environment, with an estimated 1 million bottles bought every minute worldwide.

This alarming figure is expected to increase as demand continues to grow, warn health experts in a new commentary published in BMJ Global Health.
